Preventive and early intervention supports could help older people maintain their independence and quality of life for longer, while reducing the need for more intensive aged care services.
As part of our 2026–27 Annual Work Plan, we are working with Adjunct Professor David Cullen to examine the potential benefits of greater investment in these supports.
The first phase of this work is the release of Professor Cullen’s monograph, Before the fall: The economic case for early investment in ageing support.
The monograph explores the economic case for preventive approaches, including their potential to delay or reduce the need for higher-cost care and entry into residential aged care.
