We have taken an important step with the release of our Statement of Commitment to the National Agreement on Closing the Gap. This commitment reflects our determination to ensure that meaningful and lasting improvements in aged care are shaped by the knowledge, leadership, and lived experience of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
The Statement acknowledges the deep cultural knowledge and intergenerational care practices of First Nations communities.
It recognises their leadership as essential to achieving the objectives of the new Aged Care Act 2024, including respect, dignity, and the right to live a life of meaning.
We also commit to transparency, accountability, and respectful engagement in all we do, guided by the cultural strength and the wisdom of the communities we work alongside.
